Bugatti company decides to produces a supersport car in 2000 when it was projected Bugatti Veyron EB 16/4 Concept. After five years the supercar Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 was finally launched at the Geneva and Detroit Motor show. The car it has many positive reviews from the press.

This ultimate supercar, Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 it has a incredible engine with 8.0 liters capacity and 16 cylinders in W.  A W engine is practically made from two “normal” V engines linked together to generate more power. This  solution was found to obtain more power, impossible to obtain with a normal V engine because if engineers put 16 cylinders in V the  engine will have a long motor block, impossible to use in a supercar.  The super engine of Veyron is capable to generate 1001 horse power with an incredible torque. It has 64 valves, 4 for each cylinder. The engine is quad turbocharged and is capable to offer top performance for Veyron. Is a longitudinal mid-engine with a stronger transmission to all 4 wheels.

The torque generate by this W16 engine is about 1,270 N.M if you read technical data sheet and specifications of Veyron. Anyway, the real power of the engine is not very clear because the engineers prefer to not communicate this secret value. We expect to the real value of the EB 16.4 engine to be about 1030 horse power, comparing with official 1001 horse power communicated to press.

The car it has a lot of radiators to eliminate the heat generated by the engine. Bugatti engineers find advanced solutions to decrease the temperature of the engine using ten radiators to eliminate this problem. The cooling technology for Veyron it uses air cooling system, oil radiators and air to liquid intercoolers.

The transmission of this supercar is very innovative and is projected by a specialized company. The result is a Direct-Shift Gearbox, with 7 gears. Is totally electronically commanded and the shift time is comparable with the time of Ferrari Enzo.  The car can use a fully automatic system of a semiautomatic settings for the gearbox.

The traction four wheels system is innovative and is compared with Ferrari Enzo’s solutions. This power makes impossible using of normal tires. Because the top speed of Veyron is very high usual tires cannot be used so the solution was to fabric tires especially for the car. The collaboration with Michelin offer the technical solutions for obtain good results.

The brakes of Veyron EB 16.4 are made from revolutionary materials, ceramic ventilated discs. But this type of ceramic discs is used just for few exotic and exclusive cars like Ferrari Enzo, for example and is called carbon fiber-reinforced silicone carbide or C/SiC, an innovative material. The discs are radially ventilated because the friction of the brakes with the discs generates a lot of heat. Bugatti uses aerodynamic brakes for this car too, a hydraulic rear spoiler which changes the attack angle and is capable to generate friction with the air and to decrease the speed of the car. This first version Of Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 projected by rare materials and top technology available. The top speed of Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is about 408 kilometers per hour, the equivalent of 254 mph !

The car’s price was astronomically – €1,100,000 from 2005 to 2008. In 2008 the company stops this version production and introduces a more advanced version: Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport.
