Ferrari California is the first car of the Maranello company which use a front wear V8 engine. California is one of the most innovative Ferrari ever because the car it has many features introduces first time at this new model. The car was launched in 2008 at the Paris Motor Show. It’s the first car from the category grand touring sports car.

Other innovation on Ferrari’s attitude is called dual-clutch automated manual transmission and is used to make a step forward with new Ferrari California’s vision.For this innovative car it is used a modular fabrication model, used by the first time by the Italian company from Maranello.
The engine is able to offer about 453 horse power, the equivalent of 338 kilowatts of pure thrust. The gearbox is a seven-gears transmission, with the innovative dual-clutch system. The car was produced in “low cost” version, with a gearbox, manually activated and with a good transmission of the torque. Another new feature of Ferrari California is the roof of the car, because the engineers decides to use metal for this part of California.
This version uses new technologies in it’s suspension system: it use multi-link rear system, similar to Maserati Quatroporte technology.
The car aerodynamics it’s one of the best ever produced by Ferrari because the aerodynamic coefficient was decreased very much. The result ? An amazing 0.32 which put California in the top with the best aerodynamic car produced by Maranello team.
The designer of the body of a car is Pinfarina, for the interior the car was projected by Bertone’s company. The exhaust of California sounds great, with a power and sportive feeling.
Ferrari California is able to sprint from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.9 seconds, a very good result. The top speed of the car is similar with Ferrari F430. But if you compare in detail the characteristics of these two cars you’ll see that California is heavier and with a engine less powerful comparing with F430. The difference between cars is made by the aerodynamic coefficient and the innovative transmission.
California it was produced from 2008 to 2009 in about 25oo cars and is planning to increase the number of production units in the future. In 2010 is expected a new version of Ferrari California and we want to see which are the novelties of this new 2010 model.
The new Ferrari California 2010 will cost a little bit under the $190,000 and will be available for purchasing at local Ferrari dealers.
