Ferrari F430 Spider was introduced by Italian Scuderia to give a fresh air to the classic F430 coupe. The differences between the cars are easy visible at the exterior.
The Spider is based on the coupe version but is convertible and it has some little differences of design. The roof is electric actionable, with two stages at opening and closing. The car is projected to keep the engine visible from exterior but separate from the cockpit.The separation is projected to let enough space for the roof to enter inside. The retractable roof of Spider is very well designed and integrated in the general design of the car.
Ferrari F430 Spider looks a little bit better in our opinion because the retractable roof gives to F430 an exotic look. The motorization is the same as coupe version, a V8 with 4.3 liters capacity and about 490 horse power.
For the convertible version of F430 the top speed was not communicate by the Italian constructor. We suppose that maximum speed with the roof closed is similar with the top speed of coupe version: 312 km per hour. However, with the roof opened, the aerodynamics of the car is change and the friction with the air will increase with a high percent. Other limit in speed limitation of Ferrari F430 Spider version is generate by the safety of the driver. We suppose that maximum speed with the roof unmounted is about 230-250 km per hour.
At the interior, this convertible version of F430 is identically with coupe version.
In 2008, Ferrari decides to launch another version of this convertible and announce the new Scuderia Spider 16M. This version of F430 Spider was launched to commemorate a new championship record in Formula 1 where Ferrari wins another time the World Championship of constructors. This version of Spider was changed, with another engine, more powerful. This new Spider is able to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 315 kilometers per hour, almost similar with Ferrari F430 coupe.
