Koenisegg CCX is a supersport car producer by the Swedish company Koenisegg Automotive AB. The supercar is the second launched model of the Swedish team and was presented to the public in 2006. The car is produced until these days, so if you are ready to pay a high price for it, you can buy a CCX, directly from the Koenisegg company.
The CCX abreviation it comes from the Competition Coupe and X represents the 10th anniversary of the Swedish company. The car was produced and projected to replace the old model: Koenisegg CCR, manufactured until 2006. However, for projecting of CCX, the engineers changes the concept of the car to make possible sell of the car on the American market. This thing was the reason for changing of the old Ford based engine with a most performance engine, with changed type of fuel, specifically to the American market.
The result is a V8 engine, twin-supercharged and with about 4.700 cubic centimeters, the equivalent of 4.7 liters. However, the super-engine was totally redesigned by the Koenisegg engineers but is still based on the previous version of engine which powered CCR model. The new engine is based on the Ford Modular Architecture but the changes are in a large number. It was projected in Sweden but it was manufactured in England, at a race engines factory, where are assembled different Formula 1 engines.
The result of this collaboration from the Koenisegg and the England Grainger & Worrall manufacturer is a super engine with very good specifications. It’s a V8 with 4.7 liters and 4 valves for each cylinder. The material used to made the engine is an aluminum based alloy, with good strength specifications, better than the old CCR engine. The maximum power produced by the CCX engine is about 80horse power, the equivalent of 600 kilowatts. This power is generated with the aid of two super turbines capable to produce about 1.2 bars pressure and able to generate a very good compression ratio. The torque of the Koenisegg it has a very good torque of about 920 N.m at 5650 rpm.
The transmission of Koenisegg CCX is a six speed manual gearbox, with a twin plate clutch, with high diameter. However, this is the default configuration but you can choose a sequential manual gearbox in it’s place it you afford the price.
The body of a car was made in high proportion from carbon fibers and other high advanced materials, like Kevlar, for example. The roof of the CCX can be unmounted and placed in a special place in the car. Aerodynamics of the body of a car and the chassis it has a very good coefficient, better than Ferrari F430, it’s just 0.30 comparing with Ferrari 0.32 value.
Another good points for Koenigsegg CCX are the wheels, made from magnesium alloy in the standard version or from the carbon fiber, if the buyer wants. The brakes are made from special stainless steel or you may choose the ceramic brakes, but the price will not be the same.
Other models, based on this CCX version are Koenigsegg CCX Edition and CCXR Edition. These two modes was launched in 2008 and have different motorization’s, comparing with the base model.
The top speed of Koenigsegg CCX is about 416 kilometers per hour, the equivalent of 258 miles per hour. This value is better than Bugatti Veyron but was not officially determined and is just a rumor and it’s visible in the manufacturer specifications. Koenigsegg CCX is able to sprint from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.2 seconds, a very good result for this supercar.
